My art work “kohan” was created with the theme of “creativity that awakens the allure of materials, and enriches spaces.” Its image was conceived when I visited the e-stonetech factory, which uses recycling and processing technologies to create objects mainly from recycled optical glass.
“Visiting the e-stonetech factory in Tochigi Prefecture’s Shioya district was a valuable experience. Viewing a beautiful array of multi-shaped, large glass remnants laid out in the outdoor materials storage area gave me a renewed appreciation for the appeal of glass.
As the rain continued to fall, some droplets remained on the glass, capturing the reflection of the surrounding plants and enhancing the allure of this material. It was during that day I envisioned a clear image of my new work “kohan”, which is currently on display. Creating this work was a process of fine adjustments, so I could express the appeal of glass as simply as possible and maximize the material’s inherent beauty.”
