Kumihana

Kumihana (Braided flower) is a hair accessory series made with the traditional Kumihimo material commonly used in Japanese history, such as the Obi (Sash) of the traditional Kimono. Kumihana uses a special technique from Kyoto to braid the Kumihimo to resemble the shape of beautiful flower petals.

“This product is jointly designed with Ms. Kawato using Kumihimo (traditional Japanese braiding). We together aspired to make accessories that people can enjoy just like collecting flowers from the nature and making a flower bouquet for the hair. The subtle use of lamé represents drops of morning dew.”
